The hovercam Ultra 8 and Solo 8 are at the top of HoverCam’s line up. Both have the capability of offering stunning 4K resolution. While the two cameras are very much the same there are some critical differences that a buyer would want to keep in mind.
Video Output
The first major difference between the Ultra 8 and Solo 8 are their video outputs. The Solo 8 features a single USB output. This means that in order for the Solo 8 to work, you must have a computer connected. For those users that would rather output an image directly from document camera to display, the Ultra 8 would be a better option. The ultra 8 includes several video output options including HDMI, VGA and USB.
Full Color LCD Preview Monitor
The first things users notice when comparing the Solo 8 and Ultra 8 are the camera bases. The Solo 8 features a compact but sturdy base with a few control buttons. On the other hand, the Ultra 8 features a larger base. The larger base of the Ultra 8 includes a fully touch sensitive LCD preview monitor. This allows you to preview and control the document camera directly from the base.
4K Resolution
While both cameras are capable of producing 4K quality imaging, both the Solo 8 and Ultra 8 can only accomplish this when connected to a computer.
RS-232 Control System
The Ultra 8 features an RS-232 connection allowing you to integrate the camera into your room control system. This option is not available on the Solo 8. For a full list of RS-232 control options please click here.
