The HoverCam Ultra 8 is a stunning Full HD A3 document camera with a built in Preview screen, able to output to a PC, HDMI or VGA; with the additional option of Control via its’ RS232C connection. It offers incredible 8MP clarity, crystal clear, lag-free imagery, and the ability to record snapshots and video, including slow motion and time-lapse video footage.
Connectivity
The HoverCam Ultra 8 connects to your Windows computer through USB 3.0 (USB 3.0 cable is included) and it runs through HoverCam’s Flex 11software. This gives you the ability to capture images and video, adjust resolution, annotate, and control the camera from your interactive whiteboard. Alternatively, the HoverCam Ultra 8 can output to either HDMI or to VGA, meaning that it can be used directly connected to a large-screen display, without the need for a computer at all. Then, the built in preview screen can become a means to control the device – enabling the user to face students at all times while teaching, increasing engagement with pupils. Compact and Versatile The camera has a small footprint on your desk, and is very versatile, able to be positioned exactly where you want it to, using the 5 pivot points on the camera. The optional mounting can be used to permanently secure the HoverCam Ultra 8 in one location. There is no need to fit a separate preview screen as it is built in. It can even be positioned to look down a microscope (Adaptors available to purchase separately).
Image Resolution & Quality
The crystal-clear image is lag and blur-free; as are any videos recorded through the device. You can video for hours…. the only constraint is the size of your computer’s hard disk (USB connection) or the size of the built in SD Card (HDMI or VGA use). You can record video at Full HD or take still images in detailed, true 8-megapixel resolution. Zoom in up to 320 times using the patented ASR Zoom technology, so zoomed-in images are sharper and more detailed.
RS232C Control
When connected via HDMI or VGA in teaching rooms or lecture theatres controlled by software such as Creston or Extron, most features of the device can be remotely controlled. A full set of instructions for remote control can be downloaded the HoverCam Ultra 8 downloads page at www.thehovercam.org.uk.
Image Manipulation via a Windows Computer
You can also take photos (snapshots) using the device – from an A3 document to a business card (or even a microscope slide). These can be annotated if required, and all images and videos are managed by the archive manager. You can also crop images, or use OCR for text recognition. You can even use Slingshot to drag the live image into Word, PowerPoint or your Interactive Whiteboard software.
Whiteboard Compatibility
The HoverCam will integrate into all Interactive Whiteboard software applications (e.g. Smart notebook), with the camera being recognised by the software as an input.
Software
The powerful HoverCam software can be freely downloaded and installed throughout a school or department, meaning that if required, the camera can easily become a shared device. The Windows software, Flex 11, is incredibly capable, offering live annotation over the live image; as well as the ability to take photos and video footage easily. Slow motion and time-lapse videos are great additional features, as is the ability to adjust the image for brightness, exposure and focussing.
Web Cam
The HoverCam Ultra 8 works seamlessly with live camera software such as Skype – where it’s built in microphone, and simple to position camera head make it easy to present either yourself, or a document you’re working on, during the live chat.
